Tip 1: Include relevant hard skills and keywords on your resume.
Talk to your Thrive coach on how to customize your resume and/or cover letter for each job description. Or connect with Thrive coaches and staff during virtual office hours to help prepare to apply for a job.
Some employers rely on Automated Tracking Systems (ATS) to weed out applicants by searching for keywords. One tool that we encourage you to explore is JobScan, an online tool that scans your resume and compares it to a job description. This empowers job seekers to get noticed, get interviewed, and get hired.
Tip 2: Network
Although networking events are not an option right now, you can reach out to colleagues and friends on the phone, over email, or through LinkedIn to let them know you’re looking. Learn more about how to network on LinkedIn
Tip 3: Approach your job search as you would approach your job
Contact your Thrive coach or Thrive staff to assist you with ideas to manage your job search as you would any work project. Keep track of tasks.
Tip 4: Focus on what you can contribute.
Remember to use your resume, cover letter, and other communication to highlight your capabilities and the value you can bring to a company.
Tip 5: Keep up to date with best practices.
Now is a time to connect with your coach. Your coach can help you to persistent, be patient, and customize your resume and cover letters to help you stand out.

- Job-Search Website – Connecting Colorado is a state and county-run system where you can apply for a specific job, do a self-directed job search through their jobs database, and post your résumé.
- Job Fairs & Events – Workforce centers throughout the state are hosting virtual job fairs, which is an online version of a traditional career fair that allows employers and job seekers to meet and discuss employment opportunities.
